Ongoing Chapter Programs Address Underserved Community Needs
Across this nation, African Americans face systemic racism and still face inequity in education resources. The city of Chicago is no exception. The effects of racism flow directly into Chicago’s predominantly Black public schools with a district bosting over 500 elementary and high schools. The public-school district’s 54 established Fine and Performing Arts Magnet Cluster schools, in no way serve the full population. Neighborhood schools turn to outside resource partners to fill the gap for music, visual and performing arts enrichment. This is where our dedicated programming efforts come in. After assessing the community needs, the Chapter identifies, assists, and supports students in four distinct arts areas. encouraged students to compete, go to college, and choose sustainable professions in the Arts.
How we work: A series of activities are supported under the chapter’s goals of fostering friendship, supporting partners, and presenting the artistic endeavors of youth.
